Abstract
Knowing which occupations are in high demand is important for South Africa’s post-school education and training sector. This pilot study on P-OIHD in Mpumalanga sheds light on the region’s economic and labour market conditions. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is evident in the decline in employment growth and the challenges faced during the post-pandemic recovery. Due to projected poor growth on a national level and Mpumalanga’s lagging recovery, it is therefore crucial that the skills planning closely aligns with occupational demand.
